An Arlington, Texas native, Brenda Murphy brings together a life-long passion for Western scenes, professional artistic skills, and a flair for working with pencil.

"I enjoy working with a number of mediums but pencil provides me with an opportunity to interpret the tones, values, shapes and textures that I might overlook if working in other mediums."

Brenda grew up with a fascination of horses, and has enjoyed drawing Western images ever since she can remember. After earning a BFA from the University of Texas at Arlington she spent 15 years building a fine reputation as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator. But a chance discovery of striking Western pencil images by another artist rekindled a childhood yearning. She began drawing horses and cowboys again, bringing together a child-like fascination with a more mature artistic eye and the trained skill of a professional artist.

The results, she hopes, are a pleasure to the viewer and a proud tribute to our Western heritage. Ms. Murphy's original work is represented by Trailside Galleries, Arizona and Wyoming.
